Most granny flat companies will sell you a product. We'd rather you knew who's building it. Prestige Living is the second dwelling arm of Katana Building Services, a registered Melbourne builder since 2003. Between us there's more than 60 years of combined residential construction experience — and not a day of it spent assembling flat-packed boxes in a factory.

Scott started at eighteen as an apprentice in Park Orchards, the suburb he grew up in, working on extensions and renovations. He qualified as a Domestic Builder (Unlimited) in 2003 and founded Katana Building Services — named after the Samurai sword, for the discipline it takes to make one properly. Prestige Living grew out of two decades building for architects and homeowners across Melbourne's established suburbs.
Outside work: golf, off-road 4 wheel driving, and father of 3.
Tony Rowe
Qualified Carpenter
Director & Project Manager
Tony is a director of Prestige Living and project manager across both Prestige Living and Katana. He runs the on-site works, coordinating every trade so what's on the schedule is what's actually happening in the backyard. He started at seventeen as an apprentice carpenter in Camberwell, and became a registered builder in 1992 — running his own company for years before joining Katana. Away from site: road and dirt bikes, racing speed boats and father of 2.
Bec Stafford
Your first point of contact
Sales and Selections
Bec is the first person most families speak to, and the one who stays with them through to contract. The first call is rarely about a building — it's working out whether the idea is even possible, and she'll tell you honestly when the answer is no. She then runs selections: tiles, tapware, flooring and colours, all documented and priced before works starts on site.

Scott has held a Domestic Builder (Unlimited) registration since 2003, when he founded Katana Building Services. He has spent over two decades building extensions and new homes across Melbourne's established suburbs.
Tony has been a registered builder since 1992 and ran his own building company before joining him. We've been HIA members for over 20 years.
That's the experience your second dwelling gets — the same trades, the same standards and the same process we'd run on a full house.
